Artist Statement
Along with most of Aggie nation, I can tell you exactly where I was and who I was with on the night of November 24, 2018. What started as a typical SEC game turned into the longest and highest scoring game in college football history! My goal with this painting was to capture the essence of what made the end of this game so great. With that said, I decided to make a banner for most of the overtimes featuring the time and score along with one of the amazing Aggie plays from that quarter. While listening to Coach Fisher’s postgame press conference, there was a portion of it that spoke to his respect for the Aggie seniors in addition to the way that they persevered even when the game looked like they were going to lose. I decided to incorporate that quote into the background. With so many iconic plays being made during this game, it was hard to pick one to feature in the foreground of the painting. I decided to go with Kendrick Roger’s 2-point conversion catch in the 6th overtime. Kellen Mond’s back-shoulder throw was perfect and even though the LSU defender played it perfectly, Rogers was able to rise above him and make a sensational catch. In the end, I am very proud as to how this painting turned out and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed painting it!
Best Regards
